The next step

So far my senior project is going well. I have gained more experience by doing another CPR class this week. I was sturggling on ideas on what to write my research paper on, but I did find an iteresting topic to write on now with the help of Ms. Zion's suggestions. Thank you Ms. Zion!
My paper will be on The Good Samaratin Law and how it protects individuals who try to help people who are physically hurt. Another struggle that I have encountered is how to find the time to provide the CPR class to students who want to receive a certification card. This is the Heart Saver CPR and the use of AED class, which takes at least two hours. There is a course fee for this class and this includes the certification card. The class that I have planned to teach is basic CPR and it takes an hour and is a non certification course. Any thoughts on this?
I would like to keep my CPR classes to a maximum of six students.
Oh by the way I have chosen my mentor. She is considered one of the top notch CPR instructors.
CPR saves lives!
 More to come!

  1. Victoria, I like your enthusiasm! Have you ever had a lifesaving experience-your life was saved or you helped someone?

I believe that you must be a certain age to take this course. Do you have that info?

HS students who want to be certified will certainly give up an afternoon after school to do it.

  2. This is an important project and I love your enthusiasm. Keep your goals reasonable but still aim high to try and educate as many people as possible. I think certification would be nice but not at all necessary for most high school students. Regarding your idea for the paper, you need to argue a point of some type, one idea might be whether the Good Samaritan Law is strong enough. Just talking about it will not satisfy the requirements of this paper. Good luck! Dr. B

  3. Ms. Rosemary : I appreciate your comments. No ma'am fortunately I have not had that experience yet, but I know that I am prepared and will know what to do if this might happen.
Yes ma'am the American Heart Association Training Center that I belong to trains children as young as five years old. These kids are taught the basic CPR which includes trying to wake up someone who is not responding and how to call 911. Thank you again for time to read my blog.

Dr.Bingham: Thank you very much for your helpful comments. I will do my best to train all those who are interested in high school. I will make my goal to train at least 50% of the high school students and more if time allows. I also am planning teach my youth group at our church. For now I plan to do more research on the Good Samaritan Law. Thank you again for your helpful advice.

  4. Victoria! I am really proud of the work you did this summer to be prepared to do this project! As you are working out the classes you will teach be sure to create some way to keep up with who you have taught. I am sure you probably have a plan for that but you need to explain it in your proposal. Great start!

  5. Have you considered "hosting" a cpr party. You could act as the course leader and invite other instructors to participate and thus be able to teach a larger group. Could consider stations and rotate participants through as a way to expedite the training. Have you decided on a direction for your paper? Would love to brainstorm with you - stop by the health room any T TH.

  6. Ms. Zion: Thank you Ms. Zion. There is a paper work that I have to complete for American Heart Association for every class that I teach. This includes a sign up sheet for every student that takes the class.

Ms. Lindacarol: That is a great idea and I will keep that in mind. Yes I would to brainstorm with you about my paper. I will come by and see you when I get back to school. Thank you very much for your helpful comments.
